What diameter is the hole in the wall?

Is the fan wired to come on with the light switch, and does it have a run-on timer?

Is it directly above a fixed bath or shower?

How high (in mm) is it, above floor level? (Be accurate).

Hole is 100mm
Unit 190 cm high and at the end of the bath. There is a mixer shower the tap end
It is operated by pull cord; it isn't wired into the light. Not sure about a timer but has a humistat?

The Soler & Palau range are quiet and a bit more powerful than usual. They have a ball-bearing motor so should last well.

This one has a humidstat if you want one

Though I would prefer one to come on with the light switch, it will keep the bathroom fresher and run more often. You would need an electrician to connect it.

The IP45 rating means you can use them above the bath.

I can't see one in this range with an integral pull cord switch.

Thanks very much everyone .Pigletjohn..the light switch is on the opp far side of the room; is it possible to be wired to this?

yes, because the wire is taken from the ceiling rose, not from the switch.

It's much easier when you have access above the ceiling, for example a bathroom with loft above, or an older house with actual floorboards that can be taken up individually.

Some people grumble about fans coming on "unnecessarily" but the better modern ones are pretty well silent and will run for about 125 hours on 14p worth of electricity.

I much prefer one with a humidistat, as if you have a hot shower, then leave the bathroom and turn off the lights, it's not running when it needs to be.

run-on timer.
