Massive landing WWYD

Just that really - new house with a giant landing so looking for ideas to use the space / make it look 'purposeful'. It's a 5 bed and 1 of those is an office.

All I have really come up with is looking for a nice big sideboard for extra storage and a rug. Not very creative!!

Pinterest 'huge landing' or 'large landing' doesn't reveal much.

Any ideas??

Close off the door to the smallest bedroom and turn that o to a dressing room for the master, giving you a useable corner to turn into a study area.

It’s a difficult shape, I’m not sure you could use it for much without blocking doorways.

I’d get built in cupboards, floor to ceiling and use the wall space for general storage.

Maybe a nice rug, and a big pot plant if you can find a corner for it.

I have a similar sized landing and we have a chaise longue for reading. The doors might get in the way, looking at your floorplan though!

What are the dimensions? If huge, you could have a type of island in the middle for storage? Or a table football game?

Hmm - it's a bit of a corridor, isn't it. Could you embrace that and make it narrower by putting in floor to ceiling fitted cupboard for storage. You could keep all your linens/towels in there and have a section for washing baskets too. Use it for upstairs cleaning product storage, loo roll, toiletries.... ooh - uou could include a massive shoe closet for everyone to share...

A bit dull unless you enjoy good storage I do

I would make floor to ceiling cupboards along the entire wall above the word "landing" on your plan.
Have handle free doors that open when pressed.
Fill with random crap to keep the rest of the house tidy

I’d love to have a huge landing. Check houzz, they probably have some ideas.

I’d go with a library, personally, with an antique ladder and floor to ceiling shelving.

here's some suggestions from Houzz article

I would also turn it into a library, with shelves along the two walls where they'd fit. Plus, a BIG statement light to set it all off!

Shelves are narrow and shouldn't eat into your circulation space too much. I'd be wary of putting anything wider in there. Cluttered hallways are a nightmare - I'm just getting rid of mine in a build, and it makes the house feel loads bigger not to have stuff in the way.
