I am currently having a new bathroom fitted and we have chosen a free standing bath. It comes with fancy feet and i asked if We ( my husband ) could fit the lino down before the plumber installs the bath as it would make it a lot easier ? But the plumber has said no the bathroom should be left without flooring for 7 days ??? I have never heard this before i understand the plastering needs to dry but why would that stop us putting lino down ? surley allowing water onto the bare boards would damage them ? Can anyone confirm either way I dont want to challenge him if he is right !!

Ask him why it needs to be left for seven days as that bit of info seems to missing.

he reckons the furniture ie bath needs to settle ??? it doesnt make sense to me x We have asked if he could set all the pipe work then let us put lino down then he can plumb in the bath after he said no he cant do that and then he made the excuse that we should leave it 7 days anyway ? We offered to carry the furniture back in and put in place but he said no he wants us to leave him to do all the plumbing and fixing then up to us when we put lino down ! Its seems he is just being awkard x
But if it is genuine we have never heard of it before. he is the plumber so dont want to challenge him if he is right !!

You are the customer so ask him to do what you would like. My guess is that he doesn't want to have to be careful not to damage your flooring. What would he do if you were having ceramic tiles? Surely he wouldn't expect those to be fitted around the bath if it's a freestanding one so why is this different?

I thought that but when a trades person comes in once they start the job you kinda go with what they suggest as you think they no best as its there job !! hence me posting on here. He has broken a tile that was fitted by the tiler yesterday luckily we have some spares but now have to go out and buy more tile and grout to repair it. He also had to drill out the concrete to move some pipes which was in the plans and he agreed to do but today ! last min he has asked us to go and buy some sand and cement so he can fill the whole in. surley he should of bought that with him or could of told me i needed to buy as i have bought and paid for everything else he is just doing the pluming. he has put the bath in even though he still has to fill the floor in .....
