Toilet discussion. What better way to start 2018.

I need to pick a toilet ASAP!

From researching, namely seeking pigletjohn’s comments, I see that buttons on top of the cistern are out. And close coupled is best bet.

When I add in that I’d like a soft close seat... the option available are very limited.

I’ve found a nice Burlington rimless one.
Does anyone have a rimless toilet?
Any rec for a lever close coupled toilet with a soft close seat?!

Thanks

I'm not sure about the style but get one with a decent size U bend.

I don't know if there's a better way, but here's an example page of seats, you can pick out the soft close ones and look at the WC they're sold with. You can often specify the seat option when you order. plumbers merchants can order any item from UK makers, they don't carry every option in stock.

Another tip is not to buy a pan with a weird shaped seat, as in future years, matching replacements may be unobtainable or very expensive. Most WCs will fit a standard off-the-shelf seat found in any high street. The makers helpline should be able to say if your chosen pan fits a standard seat, and if it fits a "universal" cistern.

You may find that less modern designs have a larger cistern. This can be an advantage for a better flush, especially if you have a Flapper Valve fitted when it is installed.

Pans marked "HO" mean horizontal outlet, meaning it can go through a wall as is usual. "BO" means bottom outlet, so the spigot goes downwards, useful if your soil pipe goes through the floor. These are much rarer.

Brilliant link pigletjohn. Thank you. I really owe you.

Whilst I have you? What do you think of this? I’m going with aqualisa as per your recommendation, just would like to incorporate a fixed head as well

you'll need an unvented cylinder, or a large combi, and good incoming flow, for the drencher.

How many litres of hot water does your bath tap deliver per minute?
