Leaking Bosch Washing Machine and Bosch Condensing Tumble Dryer

I did two loads of washing, one of which was tumble dried. After about half an hour I noticed a small amount of water on the floor.

I checked around the machines (Classixx) which are stacked with a proper Bosch stacking fitment .

Water was coming out of the end of a small metal fitment, not a spout, at the centre of the bottom back of the tumble drier. The water collection unit is at the top left corner.

I could not work out how to take the dryer off the washing machine and probably could not have managed to lift it on my own.

I checked hoses, pipes, water collection unit, filters etc and could not see anything amiss. Apart from a small amount of water on the floor.

I assumed that it would be ok to use the washing machine but after one load this morning there was again a small amount of water on the floor. There was no sign of water at the back of the dryer.

The machines are 12 years old and have previously been faultless. I use Tesco washing liquid.

Should I just accept one or both machines are at the end of their lives and replace?

If so, what with???! Recommendations welcomed.

I'd guess that it is only the drier that is leaking, and the water has taken time to dribble out. Washers seldom leak, and it would be quite a coincidence if they both leaked at the same time.

this is a condenser dryer?

It is said that on some models there is a part that can become blocked with fluff, and is accessible for cleaning only through a secret hatch on the back. If you google your model number and "blockage" or "leak" you might find it mentioned.

A new drier will presumably cost around £500 so it would be worth having a repairman look at it. If you phone Bosch they may offer you a fixed-price repair or a 12-month service contract for not much more. I found the 12-month option good value as it cost less than the replacement parts. Don't renew it next year though, I'm sure they make all their money from people paying for years and years and never having a fault.

The newer heat-pump driers use about half the electricity, but are more expensive to buy. I worked out that you need to use it a lot to see a saving with the extended warranty period. I have solar panels so use a simple vented machine, with not much to go wrong.

Thank you so much for your help and the links. I have poked around and found the secret compartment which is revealed by removing the cooler/filter unit. There does not seem to be the additional sump mentioned in some of the posts in the links.

I have no idea why this area had some water in it, but have mopped it out and cleaned the odd bit of fluff out.

Thanks for your advice, very grateful.
