should I get an induction hob or 'normal' ceramic hob - any recent recommendations?

We need to get a new hob, we've got a ceramic hob at the mo. However I'm getting so confused by reviews for new ones - it looks like the ceramic hobs of 10 years ago were better than the ones available now, as the reviews are so mixed. So I'm wondering what people's experiences are with recent brands of electric/ceramic hob, and whether I should consider an induction hob (and if so, which brand). Prob max £350 though... esp if I have to buy a whole new set of pans (mine are lovely but ancient habitat ones, bought over 10 years ago). Help!

Thank you everyone - I've made a decision!! I'm so relieved, it takes months of my life to think about these things. I did in the end subscribe to Which but I found it pretty useless as it seems to not take into account features like the flexible hob functions etc that I thought would be useful. So thank you all again for your helpful input - I will now relax and hope the hob I've bought turns up and can be wired in!! GrinFlowersBrewCakeGinGinGin

Which one did you end up buying OP?

I've ended up going for the AEG in my post above (AEG HK654400FB) - it was on sale at John Lewis for £389 but sold out. Luckily I realised that Curry's had it for more but today were offering at 10% discount that took it back to the same price. I think when it was more expensive it was perhaps not such a good deal, but at that price I liked the flexible cooking areas and the swipe touch controls - the reviews and videos looked good. Seemingly the heat distribution is a bit mixed but it looks like that's the case for any electric hob. Anyway, fingers crossed that it works out and that my old pans work on it... it will certainly be an improvement on a hob that only half works, at least.

By the way, AEG and Zanussi products are owned and produced under licence by Electrolux.
