Contacting solicior to encourage exchange?

Spoke to my solicitor just before Xmas. Enquiries had been returned although she was yet to go through them. They were for pretty minor points though so I think it should be ok.
She promised she'd have the final report to me before they finished for Xmas. This didn't happen. She confirmed vendors would like a mid Jan exchange date to complete end of Jan.

Is there any point emailing solicior in order to politely encourage the report promised? They are closed until 2nd Jan and she is currently in Bali. Is it worth doing so she picks it up first thing upon her return? (Or in case she is working whilst away as she has been known to previously).
I don't want to email for the sake of it, but I do want to put full pressure on getting a mid Jan exchange. What do you think?

I'd email and say that you are waiting for the report. She promised something by a certain date and didn't deliver, it's not unreasonable to give her a gentle nudge.

I wouldn’t email now. Yours will be lost in her inbox among another 100+ emails. I would wait until 2nd Jan, give her time to make a brew and then email so that it flashes on her screen as she’s wading through her backlog. Maybe 9.20am?

Polite reminder in the subject line and friendly nudge in the first line...hope you had a great xmas, time to relax blah blah now get on with it please.

Failing that, if they are local, pop in with a tray of Krispy Kreme’s or a fruit basket. You shouldn’t have to but, you catch more flies with honey, as the saying goes. Good luck!

From experience, some solicitors really do need a stick of dynamite up their fundament before they'll get a move on. You do need to chase sometimes, politely but firmly.

''Twas ever thus - in his novels Anthony Trollope was referring to Messrs. Slow and Bideawhile back in the 1860s or so.

Phone on Jan 2. She missed a deadline with no communication so is now in the ' needs rocket up arse' category.

You pay, you pester. If she wants to get rid of you, she does her job.

Thanks everyone. Yes I took some chocolates in at the start of Dec and it's amazing how much was sorted within 24hrs of receiving them!
I shall make contact with her the morning they open.

As a conveyancing solicitor. I can honestly say I will deal with my back log one by one starting with the oldest. Unless something is horrifically urgent. I would send a firm email asking for an update within 24 hours of her return.
