Cheapest way to secure a garden?

Im in rented accomodation so dont want to be spending more than I have to. But I have kids and dogs and the garden has fence panels missing and some others broken and the other side has a wall thats so low and falling down.

I just want a cheap way to secure it so I can let my dogs and kids play out there. One of my dogs is large so needs to be a decent height.

Garden is unfortunately long and thin.

Any ideas? Currently the best option Ive found is stock fencing.

Yes, I was going to say stock fencing.

The landlord should repair the boundary fencing. I repair mine even when it’s not my responsibility! It keeps my tenants happy. I would ask for the repairs to be done for which the landlord is responsible. If there is an agent, speak to them.

No agent. I have asked the landlord lots of times but just giving up as I need to let my dogs out and i cant see anything being done anytime soon unfortunatly. Its not fair on my dogs to let this go on much longer

a big dog can jump over a fence, or, by climbing, pull it down.

You can get wooden or concrete posts that are 8ft (2 ft buried in the ground) but you have to dig a pit for them and preferably set it in concrete. You can bang metal posts into the ground with a big hammer unless there is concrete in the way.

A dog can also burrow under a fence, unless you dig a trench and bury the bottom of it, folded towards your garden (they always start digging at the bottom of the visible fence)

your dog your resposibility to keep safe on your property.
either by staying with then when they are out or by putting up your own fence.
I would go for posts & chicken or sheep wire.

Purple. I know this - hense why i am working out the best options for securing fence. Landlord did say when I first viewed the house they would sort the fence. But they haven't so I am doing it.

Thanks for all the replies.

Similar issue....I got some bamboo screening like this
www.ukgardenproducts.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=387

And some cheap posts criss crossed to hold them up .

cestlavielife · 26/12/2017 18:47

I got 2 m high .
You could double it up for more secure "fence"
Cheaper than posts and fencing done properly

BubblesBuddy · 26/12/2017 22:12

Find somewhere with a fence! Landlord has obviously lied and it is their responsibility. You are mad to pay.

Bubblesbuddy. I cant just move again!

Could you fence a smaller length and then fence across as well? Sort of cut the garden in half, if you can add a gate the kids can use the end part but the dogs are well contained in the first part. Should be cheaper if the gardens very long?

Thanks all. I have a guy coming to give a quote tomorrow.
