What commission rate are you paying EA?

If you don't mind sharing, can I ask what you are/have paid EA in commission?

We currently have a deal of 0.8% + vat on a property valued between 400,000 & 425,000. The agent has agreed to go multi agent on the same terms but new agent 'is shocked' at the low commission rate and 'couldn't possibly see how they could go so low.' We have left the ball in their court but would be interested to know what deals everyone else has??

2.5% on £170,000

Mosaic123 · 21/12/2017 22:00

0.7% + Vat in June 2017. Offered 0.5% by a, newish estate agent who was trying to get established.

JoJoSM2 · 21/12/2017 22:00

We did own viewings so went with an online agent. I think it was £500 all in with truly fab photos and customer service (booking appointments, chasing between offer and completion etc).

Thisandthat2017 · 21/12/2017 22:08

@mosaic123 what was the approx valuation of the property, as I think that makes a difference??
We have also been offered 0.5% but I don't rate the company so we won't be going with them. I don't know whether the new EA is just trying their luck but we are really not bothered if they market us or not. It just made me wonder what everyone else is paying.

We had 0.75% + vat earlier this year (house on market in April, sold in May, completed in August) two other agents said they would match that if I went with them instead - they had originally said at 1% and 1.25%

Buscake · 21/12/2017 22:22

House values at £325k btw

Iamcheeseman · 21/12/2017 22:24

1% back in February. £200k house south west.

2017SoFarSoGood · 21/12/2017 22:30

5% on a $1,730,000 home in California. That stung! Agent did throw in .5% towards purchase price of new house, which was a nice gesture. It does seem that EA's do a whole lot more work for their money here, but still, it is a lot of money!

PinkAvocado · 21/12/2017 22:31

1% on all value properties here at the moment.

Freshme · 21/12/2017 22:42

We paid 1% +VAT in February, house valued at 375k, Midlands

Meandyouandyouandme · 21/12/2017 22:46

We’re paying 0.5% + VAT on £880k, in an extremely competitive market in a north west city. This is with one of the best agents in the town, and yet they actually valued the house the lowest, @ £825k, but we had a lot of interest!

Freshme · 21/12/2017 22:46

Actually they wanted 1.25, but we had a deal where they charge us 1% if they don't achieve an asking price, which they/we didn't.
Sold to very good acquaintances in the end, which we were a little pissed off about(about having to pay the commission!) because we ended up doing all the communication directly anyway, since we already had each others contact numbers etc and it felt weird/timewasting communicating via the agent.

Flat fee of £1299 with Purplebricks. We come under London prices! Most people pay £850. Much better than our ex agent we would of paid 1.5% to for being incompetent, rude & negligent!

flirtygirl · 22/12/2017 10:03

Which online ea? JojoSM2 Tia

Tobuyornot99 · 22/12/2017 12:25

I paid a flat fee of £699 + vat on a 200k house. A traditional estate agent, not online, they did all the viewings etc.
They were a new company starting out so we're offering a £1500 to sell package, but I negotiated them down.

Thisandthat2017 · 22/12/2017 14:24

They have come back saying they won't go lower than 1.25 + Vat. No loss, I will find another that will, it's just interesting that they vary so much.

Flirty, we used Property Eagle (a few times). Looking at their website, it's £399 + vat. They do pics, floor plans, post on all the main websites, and are very good at communicating.
