Toning down yellow London stock bricks

Bit niche!

We've recently had the brickwork completed on our new extension and we're in the process of having a walled garden built (bit of an indulgence but it's the forever house!). The only slight issue is some of the brickwork looks a bit too yellow and new.

Has anyone used any products to tone down brickwork? I've seen something called Brick Age from Dyebrick which gets good reviews. Has anyone used this, or similar?

I have heard you can brush it with a mixture of yoghurt and manure - sounds bizzare but the yoghurt is supposed to encourage stuff to grow.

Gosh that Brick Age stuff looks good though - great results on the website. One to bookmark.

Love the yoghurt idea but we've got a double storey extension to cover and the garden wall is six foot high. Would need a lot of tubs! Grin

you can spray it if you want. The yoghurt is mixed into water so you don't need a lot. Wait for a dry day so it is absorbed. watered down mud would probably work.

Sadly you will not get a hundred years of soot and factory pollution. Some might think that a good thing.

Vote for brick age, we have been pleased with it and has worked very well in a similar situation to yours.

Thanks all! I think I'm going to take the plunge with Brick Age given your feedback, Godric. Hopefully we can obtain that lovely sooty, polluted look soon. Grin

Worked for us Grinjust don't use it too dark at the beginning. You can always add more later.
It was recommended by our builder if that helps provide further comfort - hope it works out.
