Help! I've dented brand new oak floor!

As the title says, I'm absolutely gutted, I know it's not the end of the world but the floor is less than 3 weeks old and I've dropped a stone vase taking a massive chunk out. Has anyone ever used a wood putty / filler? Am going to try and cover it until I can afford to have the board replaced. All suggestions very welcome!

Dh fills holes in timber with filler and then paints it with acrylic to match.

Worth a shot - www.instructables.com/id/How-to-remove-a-dent-from-wood/

and if you read the comments in the link it says ' But with furniture that has a clear finish on it , you will need to take a needle and poke several small holes so the steam can penetrate the clear finish. It does work.'

Thanks everyone Smile furball, am going to see if I can find a stain that matches my floor then try the dent removal technique, will let you know if it works!

I have had annual floor for about 12 years. I have come to recognise the dents and scratches as part of its “organic” character.

Be careful with the steam / iron trick.

It worked beautifully on a coffee table I had and made a terrible mess of my Dining Table.

If the dent is small and the wood has dark coloured knots, then fill with dark filler crayon and distress it to look like a knot. If larger fill with similar colour filler crayon and attempt to closely blend.

Like BikeRunSki I have come to love my dents. They are part of the character of the floor !!
