Mouldy house!

Looking for some help really because I have tried everything I can think of.

Our house originally has single glazed wood framed windows and was very cold with lots of condensation.

Two years ago we replaced all the windows and doors with upvc double glazing.

We are still getting condensation, so I got a tumble drier no longer dry clothes in the house and open windows daily which has helped massivley.

The problem is mould. It is constant during the winter. On and around every window and door no matter how much I clean it or what products I use it is there.

How can I get rid of it for good??? Or is there something wrong with my house?

Also to be clear the house is about 20 years old.

Mould grows because the humidity in the air is too high.

Decent dehumidifier, capacity enough for your house, eg Eco air, will sort it out.

We had a similar problem in our 70s house. The previous owners used to heat it to 24oC and had single glazing, didn't have daily showers et . We came along, put in double glazing, only heated the house to 20-21oC and started having morning showers.

To stop the mould problems we fitted a permanent ventilation system upstairs - there are 4 vents (1 in the shower room, 1 in the separate toilet, 1 in the bathroom and 1 in the upstairs hallway). It runs permanently on a very low setting and has eliminated most of our mould problem. We still have a problem caused by crap insulation (we're about to try and fix) in our bedroom which is built over the garage...

How high is the heating? You need to have the heating on in the cold and open the windows every morning - for 15 mins is enough.

Plus extractor fans kitchen and bathroom are pretty essential.
