Ballpark figure for knocking out a wall?

Anyone got any ideas? We probably won’t be able to afford it soon, hence not just trying to get a builder in for a quote - but a rough idea would allow us to see whether it’s a plan for a year’s time, or longer, or shorter iyswim.

It’s a supporting wall so will need a beam, and four electrical sockets will need to be moved, although not far. The beam will be about 8-9 feet long. As part of this, we may also knock out the cupboard under the stairs (which is a full height one), so in that case two light switches would also need to be moved and depending on whether that’s a supporting wall or not, the beam might need to be 4 or so feet longer.

Anyone got any idea of costs please? Smile

External or internal wall? We paid around £1200 for an external wall to be removed. Two steels - one for each brick leaf of the wall and structural engineer's calcs.

Sorry should have said - internal. I want to knock through between the living room and dining room end of the kitchen.

That’s not too bad, actually, I was expecting more!

Around £2500 for us. To knock out internal walls between kitchen and dining room and install a beam spanning around 3m. The cost included making good (plastering and boxing in beam with fireboard etc) but no electrics were involved. Calcs and building control submission were extra. We're in the SE and had 3similar quotes.
