Thinking of one of these for our spare room. It would only be used maybe a dozen nights a year but would two adults fit comfortably?

You do need to account for height because (as 6ft+ DH pointed out to me) , taller people need more width if they sleep with arms or legs bent. Which in a short bed they often have to. We really struggle in a 4 ft bed, he would rather have a mattress on the floor.

To answer your question whether two adults could fit comfortably in a 4' bed, then the answer is probably no. As to whether two adults would put up with sleeping in a 4' bed for a few nights a year, the answer is probably yes.

I think a lot depends on the size of the adults, and height is relevant. Very few people sleep straight up and down, most of us bend our arms and especially at the hips and knees. If you have longer arms or legs you will be wider if you bend them. I'd go for a 4'6" if you can possibly squeeze it in.

Avoid a bed with a footboard if it's likely to have someone tall in it.

I've recently bought one for my tiny spare room. My daughter and partner stayed and said they found it comfy, she's 5'6" and he's 6'.

I think it’s fine. I had one in my 20’s and had bf’s stay over without any bother. Also, I’m just under 6ft and bf’s were 6’3-6’4.

It would depend on the people that would be in it. I sleep alone and mine is 4ft. If two people were happy to be close together it would be OK.

It’s absolutely fine for a spare bed. I have one in my spare room as I wouldn’t have been able to open the door with a pull out. DH and I have slept in it’s cosy but totally fine for a couple of nights.
