Removing ceramic floor tiles glued onto original floor tiles?

Does anyone have experience in removing modern ceramic floor tiles that are glued onto the original ceramic floor tiles? If you got someone in to do the job, was it expensive? Did it cause damage to the original tiles? How did they remove the glue from the original tiles?
And were you pleased with the result?
I'm just wondering if would be a job worth doing ...
Thank you.

Not quite the same but we had lino in the kitchen glued to original quarry tiles. For us, they were unsalvageable - something to do with the glue and the porous nature of the tiles. Might be different with grout / tile adhesive, depending on what type of tiles you have underneath.

there is now a special blade for multicutters, that goes under the tile and cuts through the adhesive. I have never used one, though.

Thanks, PigletJohn - I've seen photos of the original floor tiles and I prefer them to the current ones. It's a pity that beautiful original features are often covered up to make a room look more contemporary.
