Commute to KingsX - areas to look please?!

Considering a move to London/just outside London as DH is being asked about moving to a job by Kings Cross station.

HELP! No idea where to start looking. I'd prefer him to not have more than a half hour commute. I think I'd rather live south so we can get to Brighton and the south coast more easily, but not really set on that.
Any pointers please? Thank you.

In fact the train journey is 16 minutes. And brixton is first stop so good to get a seat

Definitely consider routes into St Pancras. My DH commutes into StP and Works right next to Kings Cross. If you want to be on the direct line to Brighton, out of London but have a very short commute, you are probably best going north.

DH’s commute from near Crawley, which is not far south, is just over an hour, but then you have to add the getting to the station etc on. We opted for a longer commute to live somewhere we wanted to spend our weekends.

If you want a nice area, but would consider that sort of length commute, Hayward’s Heath is pleasant, and only about 30mins from Brighton, with lots of trains. Balcombe is also lively is you like the idea of a village in the trainline.

I am in Haywards Heath which has the direct train to Kings Cross in Thameslink. The Trains are regular and due to get more service from next year, but the commute can be a bit long. HH is a nice town, good House prices and close enough to Brighton for decent nightlife and shopping.

Commute from Ashford is 37mins to StP.

Lots of houses, good road links too. Not as nice as somewhere like Canterbury for history but still a great place to live.

Herne Hill, Denmark Hill, north dulwich, Brixton could all work well for you, good areas, good transport links, good schools, would achieve the 30 non commute too
