Can anyone help with boiler prices??

I’m replacing an ancient Worcester highflow 400 with a 42 Worcester Combi. The house has two bathrooms, three floors. I’m also looking to replace all radiators (13) and install one new one, and install two towel rails in the bathrooms.

I’ve had two quotes for about £8300 inc vat. The boiler alone is about £2k, but I was not expecting the overall cost to be so high. Am I just being unrealistic with this?

Any help appreciated!

£8k seems rather steep. I paid 4300 for an old back boiler out (inc bricking up and plastering the hole), a 34cdi combi in a new location and 10 radiators.
Is the quote from a national company?

Get three quotes and compare. And don't include the one from British Gas in them.

Is the new boiler being installed the same place as the old one?
That seems like an awful lot. My boiler (also worcester bosch) was a lot less and installation wasn't too much really at all.
Whereabouts are you?

We’re relaxing a 24w Worcester Bosch combi tomorrow with a 32. It’s £1800. Not having anything else done so not sure if that helps but we had a new radiator in our loft extension a little while ago that took a whole day and cost £400 if that helps gauge at all.

Impossible to say just based on house with two bathrooms and 3 floors. They may need to replace all your piping. I’m guessing you live in a period home. When is the last time the pipes were touched? How is the pressure?

I like the idea of relaxing a boiler 😄

We have just paid £6930 for a new Worcester Bosch boiler and 210ltr megaflo cylinder (that includes 3 new rads and the boiler and cylinder are now upstairs (used to be in garage and downstairs room) so quite a bit of new pipework/removing old pipework. That was a contractor that our builder used so he might have added a bit on top for himself!

No quotes from British Gas, but both from well established companies. Neither breaks down the cost which makes me suspicious. It’s going to be going in the same place, so no additional costs for moving.

I’ve had new radiators put in before (in previous house) and they’ve been approx £200 per radiator (supply and fit)

I’ve got another plumber coming over tomorrow, but dreading getting the same price again. I’m in Southampton if that makes any difference to price..?

I’ll be relaxed when we have a nice new boiler with enough pressure to actually work properly!!

Just for info if someone come across this again. The plumber who came out yesterday has quoted £5500 for everything. He was recommended to me by Worcester Bosch engineer who last came out to fix the current boiler. I’ll be going with them! Thanks to everyone who gave advice, it was reassuring to hear I wasn’t being totally unrealistic.
