Silestone - pros and cons

So we are renting at the moment and the kitchen has silestone worktops which I have never come across before. We are hoping to buy somewhere soon and will likely be doing the kitchen. I don't know whether silestone is hard wearing or not and its relative cost vs granite or quartz. Has anyone got these worktops?

I have grey sparkly silestone, I’ve had it 5 years & it still looks brand new. It’s very hard wearing & cleans well without smearing. I’d definitely have it again, there’s not a mark on it.

I think cost wise it was similar to granite & quartz.

I have zodiaq which I think is similar to silestone. I really rate it - mine is 7 years old now and looks as good as day 1. So I'd guess it's as durable of granite (which I've never had) but cheaper. Plus more choice of colours.

Oh great, that is really good to know. I guess the only downside I can think of is that it isn't cold so pastry prep is harder. Can you put hot things straight on it? I haven't been because I wasn't sure (and it isn't our house!)

I don't put hot things straight on mine - would think that would damage it.
