Hello Everyone. We just bought a 1950s house and looking to do loft conversion and rear extension. Discussed with architect and was shocked to know that loft conversion will easily cost us between 100k to 150k for approx. 80 sqm We are on M25 SE.

Is this correct estimation? We have a budget of 300k, if the loft conversation costa 150k, we won’t have enough left for rear extension and remodelling of the whole house!

Thanks for your advice!

Thanks for your advice JoJoSM2
I got the same feeling that we need to stay strong and be clear with our architect regarding what we want!
I will wait for full survey report. By then we probably have a clearer picture regarding the loft work.

We used Loftlife and were very happy with them.

Hi

We're looking to convert our large loft space and would like to find some good builders to do the loft conversion. Any recommendations of companies to use or those we need to avoid would be welcome? We are based in North West London/ Hertfordshire border. Thanks.

Hi, I was just wondering how you got on all these years later ? We have just had a quote for £100k for our loft conversation & I are SE near M25 too.

I'm buying a house that has a converted loft but no dormer so will be looking to basically do it all (move the bathroom, do the dormer and roof, move the boiler) and I'm estimating £50k. The plumbing is there, the stairs are in place, otherwise it would be closer to £75k from friends' experiences.
