Conveyancing costs

I'm going to be selling a house soon and I'm wondering how much to budget for selling costs (apart from the EA fees).
The EA has an inhouse facility who has just given me a quote. Very pushy salesman. I have no idea whether everyone will charge roughly the same or should i shop around. Has anyone sold a property recently who might be willing to tell me what they paid in fees? In Yorkshire if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any replies

£2300 without stamp duty. This was our quote on selling a house for around £300,000 and buying a house for around £370,000.
£900 approx to sell and £1400 approx to buy.
If you email a few solicitors then they are happy to give you a free quote. We got 3 quotes and 2 were identical and one came out £50 more expensive so all very similar.

Hope I've edited out all personal info!

We sold and bought last year in South Yorkshire as i remember it was under £1000 to sell and a lot more to buy - more costs involved plus stamp duty of course.

We paid £750 to buy (including searches) and £500 to sell (different solicitors), both plus VAT. These were for freehold properties, leasehold would be more.

Never never use the in-house conveyancer. At best expensive, at worst useless and expensive.

Shop around.

Have just agreed on £800 in London to sell.

Monstermuncher · 15/11/2017 17:11

Thanks all. I figured that an in-house service might not be the most competitive in terms of price. It seems like these costs can vary by quite a bit and that it would be wise to compare a few different conveyancers

Never use the estate agents in house conveyancing services.

Shop around and if the EA us PurpleBricks do not use their useless online conveyancing service.

Finally completed a sale through them two months behind schedule and nearly lost the buyer altogether because of their uselessness and utter lack of communication.

It’s impossible to get anyone on the phone, they don’t return your calls and the online portal tells you nothing other than the fact that a call or email was made or received not even who from or to never mind what was said!

Rant over sorry.

I’m in SW London and we got quotes recently, £800+VAT to sell and £850+VAT to buy.
Used the EA guys last time we bought and they were absolutely useless- expensive and took ages to do anything.

South-east but not London and selling a leasehold flat. Two quotes of £1,000 plus VAT and one of £800 plus VAT. I’ve gone with the cheaper one.
