Wallpaper - to change or not!!

Okay, so DH has finally agreed to change the wallpaper 😃. He still says the existing wallpaper is really nice, while stroking it & will be sorry to see it go (sad I know!) He does, however, admit the new wallpaper is very nice also. I've pointed out to him how many times I've been right about nearly, well, everything & to trust me, this will look fab!

Striped wallpaper is what we have now, horizontally on one wall. Brick wallpaper is what will be replacing. Other walls are painted just white. Have plum 'weave textured' curtains. Very dark brown settee, laminate flooring. Cream rug. Thoughts?

Look at the bad repeat on it, though. There's a clear white L-shape every 50cm or so - real bricks don't look like that at all, and from the other side of the room, it looks like a geometric pattern gone wrong. Sad

You can use brick slips to have an actual brick wall inside, but this obviously raises the cost. There are better fake brick papers which don't have such obvious repeats.

What look are you going for? Do you want an urban-style, loftish brick, or are you looking for white/beige papers with that French vintage look?

Yeah, I don’t think you should do that. Why don’t you get yourself to a decorators store and look through some wallpaper books. The brick wallpaper is very next at home and a bit yesterday.

If you want something pale, I’d go for something more elegant. Something maybe like this,

I had that exact striped wall paper in my bedroom, we’ve just got rid, it must have been up ten years I loved it when we first did it but looked horribly dated now. Hate the bricks though, sorry, there’s so many much nicer papers around.

What about this one? It’s also very subtle, I think it would be lovely up.
