Boiling water tap and gravity fed system

I'd decided on the Frank Minerva boiling water tap but when checking something earlier it says they're not suitable for use with a gravity fed system. And now looking at others, they all require a high pressure. Has anyone used a boiling water tap with a gravity fed system? Our hot water pressure in the kitchen isn't too bad. Am I panicking about nothing?!

I think you will find it is intended to be fed off the incoming cold water main, like the kitchen cold tap.

You may have other taps supplied from a loft tank, but the drinking water tap in the kitchen will not be low pressure.

Put your thumb over the spout and try to stop the flow. You can't.

Thanks pigletjohn It is the 3in1 which also has the normal hot and cold water so didn't know if that made a difference. I'm tempted to try it and see but it's a lot of money if it doesn't work. I'll ask my builder later too though he hasn't fitted one before so might not know.

The problem with a 3-in-1 tap and a gravity fed system is that the pressure of the hot and cold will not be balanced. I.e. your cold will be under high pressure (mains) whereas the hot will be (relatively) low pressure in comparison.
The 'boiling' part will work fine, but you might find the 'mixer' part of the tap doesn't work very well. A simplistic explanation is that you may find that anything other than the 'complete hot' setting will be cold. In reality there could be other problems with this setup.

Ask the tap manufacturer.

Remember, even if you go for a separate boiling tap and a regular mixer, the mixer will need to be suitable for a low pressure system.

For anyone that finds this thread and has the same issue, I found a boiling water tap that works with lower pressure. It is the Abode one. Both the 3 in 1 and 4 in 1 work with lower hot water pressure and we've had the 3 in 1 fitted and it's working well.
