Number 13?

We are buying a new build and the plot we are interested is going to be door number 13 when it's built. Would it put you off?

Neither one of us are superstitious but we're worried about resale value.

There is the option to change our reservation to another plot but it delays our move date significantly.

It would not bother me. But I agree I'd worry a bit about the resale value. Can you be 12a?!

We need to ask the solicitor that aparantly but google says it's unlikely to be able to change it.

Buy it, we had a flat 13 and we had absolutely no problems selling or renting it out. (Personally it’s my ‘lucky’ number)

It wouldn't bother me, but some buyers get jittery about 13 so I'd worry about selling it on.

Definitely wouldn’t bother me.
We’re number 15, next door is 11. I think it’s insane that they missed out 13! I don’t know anyone that superstitious.

My house is number 15. Should’ve been number 13 but was new build and developers don’t number any 13’s. Have had a very happy 12 years here, just sold as bursting now with 3 dc. New home is number 11 and next door is number 15, no number 13 either.

This is a new build so developers don't always miss them out.

Wouldn't bother me! We lived at number 11, number 13 next door sold and the new owners changed it to 11b!

My mum’s house is a 15 next door to number 11. I always thought it was quite silly to have missed out 13 entirely.

I didn't think you could change numbers. Although 12a etc. seems silly and might as well just be 13 anyway.

It would make me paranoid and I wouldn't buy number 13. But I'm a bit obsessed with numbers.

We bought and now live at house number 13. Doesn't bother us. We also have friends who live at a number 13 on our old street.

But what kind of area is it? Our area has a lot of science-based jobs nearby so maybe attracts more people who are less likely to be superstitious? Also other cultures have different unlucky numbers so the ethnic mix might influence the pool of buyers who would not be bothered.

I think I would try for a small discount on the basis that it does put some people off.

DD1 was born on 13/11/13 at 13.13, weighing 7lbs 13oz

We viewed a no 13 (ended up buying number 3 on the same street but that definitely wasn't why!). No 13 still hasn't sold nearly a year later but I doubt it is down to the number. Sorry that was a very unhelpful post!
