Hi I am shortly moving to Warrington for work and am looking for areas to buy. Will be working near Birchwood area, don't mind a commute of up to 45mins, looking for a detached house, will just be me and husband as kids grown up and budget of around 650k but could be a bit more for perfect house! As have only visited area twice really need help!

For that in Warrington you will get a lot!

Lymm, Appleton and Croft are probably areas to start your search.

Nw3lon · 26/10/2017 13:51

Thanks. Will have a look at those areas in Rightmove! Would I be better to look nearer Manchester suburbs or would the commute be too long?

Culcheth is a very plush area that is closest to birch wood. Nice village area and only 10 mins in car to birch wood.

Nw3lon · 26/10/2017 14:01

Thanks. Do you know what Warrington town centre is like or would I be better looking towards Manchester?

Sirzy · 26/10/2017 14:11

It depends what you want from the town centre really.

It has a nice new shopping centre and a decent variety of places to eat and drink. Like any town it has it’s good and bad sides (although Warrington does seem to go from one extreme to the other in that way!)

Nw3lon · 26/10/2017 14:15

Looking for few good pubs/bistro type places, nice independent shops and big m&s or Waitrose for food shops?

Lymm, High Legh as more desirable areas than Warrington itself. Still relatively rural though. If you wanted more of a "suburb" location (within easy commute of a city centre) you're right in looking to be closer to Manchester than Warrington. Look at South Manchester (Hale, Hale Barns, Bowdon, parts of Altrincham). M&S Food and Waitrose, plus lots of bars / bistros.

Thanks will have a look on Rightmove!

Culcheth has lovely bistros and restaurants as well as the famous Bents garden centre with stunning high end food hall, and restaurant. It feel rural but is 10 mins from birchwood and 15 mins from town centre. Also close to east lancs which take you into Manchester in about 20-25 mins.

Nw3lon · 26/10/2017 16:16

Will have a look to see what's available there. Thanks.

ZenNudist · 26/10/2017 17:25

Walton is nice

callmeadoctor · 26/10/2017 17:28

Nice, just outside Culcheth is the rural Croft Grin

If looking towards Manchester then make sure you have a practice at the commute before you set your heart on an area - traffic is a absolute nightmare on M6 and M62 in that area so what you think is a 45 min commute will take much longer!
Don't have much advice on areas as I don't live nearby, but my parents are not far from Culcheth and it looks like a nice area.

hazelnutlatte · 26/10/2017 18:03

Noticed you were wanting a big M&S - there is a giant M&S in Warrington just off the M62 so you are fine there! Don't think there is a Waitrose anywhere though

Nw3lon · 26/10/2017 18:26

M&S beats Waitrose for me!

Have you looked at Stockton Heath?

peachy94 · 27/10/2017 12:19

I 2nd Stockton Heath and Appleton

Kokapetl · 27/10/2017 22:22

Culcheth is nice with some nice shops and restaurants and you can just about walk there from some parts of Croft including some of Mustard Lane (have stayed at a friend's house there) although it is a long road! Croft does have quite a rural feel as there are houses along the roads but fields behind them.
