Replacing a bumpy floor

Hi, just looking for advice. We recently moved house and have inherited this floor(pic included). We don’t particularly like it and wondered if there was a way to replace it without having to rip it up?
It’s very uneven therefore we can’t just put something over the top.

concrete? chipboard? rice pudding? something else?

kitchen? bathroom?

It’s in the kitchen. We can’t put concrete or chipboard down as it will raise the floor too much. Just going to bite the bullet and get it removed

It’s not that much of work to remove it. It also makes sense and then you can get the floor redone properly.

Other than that, you can’t cover it without raising the level

I meant, what is the exiting floor made of? That will clues of why it has gone lumpy.

In a kitchen it is probably water-leak related.
