Advice req'd on changing layout of ground floor

Hi,
Looking some creative advice on how to easily (cheaply) adapt our current house layout to be better. Would really prefer to merge the kitchen & family room but there’s a utility room & toilet in between. Thought about moving the utility to back of house, cupboard area but really want to keep toilet. Can anyone suggest something simple that I can’t see? TIA

I'd turn the current kitchen into a light bright snug/ adult (as in tidy, no kids toys, nice fabrics doesn't have to be hoseable) lounge.

Build a new partition stud wall with door across the hall just beyond the w/c, board up back of stairs. Knock the current family room, cupboard and dining room into one big open plan kitchen/ dining/ family space. Possibly shrink the lounge slightly so that the big back room is a balanced shape. Close up door between lounge and current dining space.

Entrance area would essentially have stairs and four doors leading left into lounge, right into snug, second right into w/c and opposite into big space.
