They have to be on rightmove, right??!

Agent in London is telling us belatedly after signing the contract that they don't actually use rightmove but just zoopla instead. This is rubbish, isn't it? 99.9% of people I know would only look at rightmove, me included, but obviously that is anecdotal... what do you think?

Okay, this is EXACTLY what I thought, plus they are bullshitting us by saying they have never been on rm... we bought our house off them 4 years ago after 2 years of obsessing over rightmove, and it never occurred to me to look anywhere else, so I know I found the house there. They are so full of sh*t!!!

Yes, it totally needs to be on right move. Very bad form they are lying to you and did not reveal up front. I understand why they didn’t, as you wouldn’t have given them your business, but lying to get it is terrible.

not sure how PB works but if you install it (google it and you should find it) it shows (or at least should show) the price history - when the property was first listed, when the price is reduced/increased etc. Many Eas get round it by removing the property ad and relisting as NEW Smile
other similar products are available I think as PB is my choice as I am on firefox.

It is rubbish, bin them

The search on zooplankton is a nightmare to use. I've given up every time as I've always end up being navigated away from the search I wanted to do.

You’ll have a 7 day cooling off period where you have the right to cancel surely?

You need maximum exposure when selling.

I was told at the time that all EAs had to choose one as the governing body of EAs had ruled this

This is not correct.

I suspect where the confusion lies is with a portal known as OnTheMarket. One of the clauses in the contract if an agent uses OnTheMarket is they can only advertise on one other portal, which for most agents is a choice between Rightmove and Zoopla. It has nothing to do with the governing body of estate agents.

KitKat1985 · 18/10/2017 13:13

Yes, I wouldn't use an agent who wouldn't use Rightmove. Our EA told us though that Rightmove charge £2000 a month for them as an estate agent to be a member though, so I bet that's why your estate agent doesn't use them.

We got our last house for much less than we would have paid if it had been on right move but it was just on Zoopla. It was three years ago and everything we were looking at had at least 30 viewers on the open day and best and final offers in on Monday, often going for over 20% more than the asking price. The house we bought which was only on Zoopla only had 10 viewers and went for 5% over asking...

ImminentDisaster · 18/10/2017 19:53

Ah, this is very interesting. We are looking to move to the London area and we've only looked on rightmove. Wouldn't have occurred to me to look on zoopla.
