Tile, paint or wallpaper for bathroom walls?

I'm trying to decide what to put on the walls of our bathroom and tiny ensuite. Paint or paper we can easily replace if we fancy a change, but tiles would be easier to keep clean. On the other hand tiles are more expensive and more hassle to fit. WWYD?

Mermaid board. No grout to clean.

Do you mean mermaid board on all the walls, Ruby? Or just round the shower area? I think boarding everywhere would be way too expensive.

I'm looking at tiles as being around £10/m2 and wallpaper as £3-4/m2.

I'd mermaid board around the shower - especially if it is a small room. Super easy to fit and clean. Then wallpaper the rest. You can also change wallpaper fairly easily if you want a colour / design.
Tiles are more classic but depends on what you want. Personally i'd use plain tiles so not going to date quickly.

I'd do tiles in wet areas and then paint the rest. Wallpaper looks cool but might struggle with the moisture so it's better for downstairs loos or big, well ventilated bathrooms that don't get used much.
I'm not a great fan of Mermaid boards - they look quite tacky to me.

I don't really like mermaid boards either.

If it is a small space I would just tile the whole thing. No more painting ever to deal with!

Look into Venetian plaster, mound free, grout free, and can be arty

Mould not mound

Tiles, they look much better in my opinion.
