Cost of replacing a bay window

Can anyone tell me what they paid for supply and install of a large bay window? Current window is dark timber, and I'd need to replace with something that looks the same from the outside, but I want it to be white on the inside.

I'm in a 4th floor/attic flat which I assume probably makes a difference.

Bump, anyone?

If you're forth floor you will need to pay for scaffolding too.

No idea how much your window will cost sorry, I just know my parents didn't bother double glazing our attic room as they were told they'd have to pay for scaffolding hire

Thank you Lexie. My neighbour had his done a few months back and they must have done it from the inside. No scaffolding. His flat is rented, so he didn't pay for it, so can't ask him the cost.

Not necessarily, we had lots of quotes recently for new guttering and roof work- one company insisted we'd need scaffolding, the others didn't and the company we went with eventually just used huge ladders .

Years ago having windows replaced on third floor was done with ladders and from inside too.

You need lots of quotes OP,prices will vary a lot.

Thanks.

Anyone able to give a rough idea?

Quotes will vary massively, i replaced 3 windows, none bay though. 1 company said i would need scaffolding, the other 2 didnt and the quotes varied in price from £950 - £3100! I went with small local independent in the end, no scaffolding or dreadful sales pitch and it cost me £1100.

For a double glazed wooden bay windows with central window measuring 1.8m wide by 1.4m high I've paid £3,500 inc installation Shock

That was ground floor

shushpenfold · 01/10/2017 19:15

We've had quotes for ours (2m high and approx 3m wide) of £5 for replacement, ground floor.

shushpenfold · 01/10/2017 19:16

Ha, £5 would be nice....£5k sadly.

kirinm · 01/10/2017 19:24

If you mean sash we had ours done recently and it cost £6900. It is a huge window though.

nugnugsdad · 01/10/2017 19:59

may i ask how many sections the bay window is depending on size but an average 3 sections bay window can cost 1100/1200 in white upvc

nugnugsdad · 01/10/2017 20:00

thats in installation and a 10yr garuntee

wonkylegs · 01/10/2017 20:05

We paid about £3k for a huge 2.5m high 3 panel bay and £4K for a 2.6m high 4 bay one.
Ours are ground floor, hardwood double glazed sashes, painted (painting was extra) and were done when we redid all the windows
We had a similar quote for upvc
The upstairs windows were fitted from the inside but we needed scaffolding for painting and sealing for the ones not reachable by ladders.

parmavioletmartini · 01/10/2017 20:19

We had ours done sash bay windows were £2500 per bay.

No need for scaffolding. They did it all from the inside.

We had a huge variety of quotes our most expensive was quoting £8000 a bay! Shock

newjobblewobble · 01/10/2017 20:27

Quite a variation then!

My middle bay is approx 1.8m(H) x 1.35(W). The other two are 0.65m wide.

We're j going to live here for more than a couple of years, and I don't know what doing this will add much value. Plus I'll need to redecorate once they're done. But they're just so draughty!

Sorry we're NOT going to live here more than another 3 years. And they're not sash windows. Not sure what you call them, but the two smaller ones tilt right out, and the middle one opens two ways - pulling it onward or tilting it. The tops just push out to open.

sash are usually alot more expensive but the bay window mentioned shudnt cost more than say 800 all in
