URGENT plumbing advice

Got a major issue with the saniflo toilet system. The pump won't stop and sounds like constantly refilling but no water is filling in the top part and constantly running into the bowl. Now can't sleep as constantly running and no idea what to do to stop it. Hoping there maybe a plumber out there who can advise for tonight how to stop it??? Anyone??

Turn off the power..?! We have a saniflo and it requires power to operate.

AssassinatedBeauty · 30/09/2017 22:19

I'm no expert, but ours has an external power switch socket that you can just turn off?

LJH79 · 30/09/2017 22:22

No I did that the other day and the whole toilet filled up and flooded the bathroom!! Now I know the pump takes the water away. Thanks anyways but for future reference don't ever do this!

Can you isolate the water supply to the saniflo? Then turn it off? It sounds like an issue with the toilet rather than the actual saniflo mechanism itself.

If the water is flowing in, then turn off the stop cock, our toilet with a macerator has its own stopcock

LJH79 · 30/09/2017 22:27

Yes think we might have to! We've only been in house 4 weeks and not 100% that what we've found is the stopcock as it's not under sink where we would have expected. Not having much luck since moved in!

Turn off the water at the stop cock?

LJH79 · 30/09/2017 22:35

We have managed to sort for now by pouring some water in the top and pump has now cut out. Peace has resumed. Still stressed will wake up with a leak! Thanks all

Our stop cock was in the corner of the kitchen nowhere near the sink! Are you sure there isn't a "stop" on the water inlet pipe for the loo? Just looks like a screw head that you will need a flat head screwdriver to turn.

Start at toilet and work away along inlet pipe. Especially if it was a retrofit thing plumbers add these in.

The problem isn't the Saniflo, it's whatever is causing the toilet to constantly refill as a pp has stated. You should be able to isolate the water supply to the toilet cistern in the short term.

take the lid off the cistern and show us several photos of what's inside.

BTW if you rely on a poo-mincer, buy a bucket and a spade for standby.
