Can anyone help? Does this washer look like it was only recently fitted?
I had a bathroom tap repaired of its leak and the plumber supposedly changed the washer. Last night I couldn't turn the tap off and had to call out an emergency plumber who pulled this washer (see pictures) from the tap. The original engineer tells me he definitely put a new washer in but had to trim it a bit for it to fit. Surely this wouldn't happen to a washer in the space of 3 weeks?

Could well be new but either way it is not a good fit.

It certainly looks like the outside has been trimmed(hacked). Could be that it was completely the wrong size and has been chewed up and then failed. I’d get back to him and see what he says

Maybe it need a flat washer, which that is not!
