shade sail for sheltering my laundry

Would this work, I hate drying laundry in the house and prefer not to use tumble dryer. The below linked product states it ius water resistant. We have a pergola to attach it to and seems like we could take it down very quickly. Obviously wouldnt use it in very high winds or if there was really heavy rain but that is only a couple of days a month. Good or bad idea? Since it's designed for shade I am wondering if the waterproof element would work. Could maybe get a bigger one to allow for lateral winds sending the rain sideways.

@united4ever , I realise this thread is now ancient, but I've been wondering the same thing. Did you try this in the end, and did it work? Thanks!

Hi. I did try it with a bit disappointing results. You need to have a substantial pitch otherwise the rainwater sits on it and it sags/drops. So to get that pitch you need a high point for two corners (top of my pergola) but to get the pitch the low point needs to be quite low closebto the ground(other two bottom corners of my pergola). This meant except for a small area just under the highest point it was too low to hang much. It did kind of work. I didnt have somewhere to store the wind sail so it got a bit horrible and mouldy outside which was my fault. I would say it could work but but not a brilliant solution. Would give it 5/10.

We recently got a garden office and I purposely chose one that had a 2 meter overhang on the roof so I can hang stuff up there now. Hopefully will save money from not using the tumble drier much through winter.

We have a cover for our rotary washing line such that the washing can stay out in the rain. I don't think you can still get the same model but I noticed Amazon sell something similar but I can't remember what it's called - rotary umbrella?

Found it - on Amazon look for a laundry mac

We had a rotaire but I think they closed

Thanks- all good to know. It doesn't sound like it would work in the area we've got, so we'll stick with our usual line and an indoor heated airer for the weeks with no drying days.
