Help needed with caravan sofas

I've bought a second hand caravan and want to update it.
I'm having new flooring fitted and was going to rip out the old sofas and have free standing ones , which I've already paid for.
Then when we went back to look it over at the weekend, it was pointed out to me that taking them out will reveal lots of holes in the wall and the new ones are 7 inches wider than the old Ines. Also the old sofas contain a sofa bed in there which will be useful for the family ( I didn't know it was there, my daughter found that)

I can see, but I don't know if I have the have the heart to tackle 14 cushions.
A friend suggested dying them
What would you do?
Have you experience of dyeing stuff like this yourself or should I check a professional
To have them professionally recovered is £2000 and the two leather sofas were £950

If I go down the dye route, I thought a grey. Would that work on these

So, tonight we’ve finally got one sofa done
Only took two and a half hours 😂
And a boat load of fabric 😥
Hope I’m not going to run out...there’s no more

Anyway here’s a pic of half way through..
And almost finished. I just want to stitch the corners.

It looks a bit drab, better in rl
Will get some nice teal and grey curtains and teal cushions and maybe a rug to lift it.

We’ve got a long way to go!

It looks fantastic - not drab at all and very practical for a caravan with small visitors. Watching with interest as I would like to do something similar but not sure I would have the skill to do the recovering.

The end is in sight.

I finally got all 12 cushions covered by the end of first week in January.
Considering I did none in December and only got cracking in November, I’m pretty proud of my achievement. The curved ones were a mare , but I managed to get them out of one piece of fabric each by cutting the fabric at the bottom, stitching and gluing it. The top of the curved ones , I cut a couple of v shapes and placed fabric underneath and stitched the top of the v onto it . It was a great day when I finished those babies!
I reckon all twelve took about 30 hours. Considering I was going to get charged somewhere in the region of £2,300 plus fabric (£300 ) ...I’ve saved about £2000.

I know they aren’t professional but they are easily good enough and are quite robust...and I’ve stax of material left over...should I god forbid have to recover one or two...or probably 6 again.

I bought ready made curtains and I was going to shorten them. An hour and a half later without making one cut in the fabric, I decided to get all the curtains ( 2 pairs of 90 by 90 Ins) made into 6 curtains...£54 all in and money well spent.
I have one small window one to make from the remnants ..hopefully I can cope with that. I feel like I’ve cheated..but it’s not a competition.
I have shortened the bedroom curtains , all 8 of them and the door curtain which is the same shade of duck egg blue but In Chenille as I didn’t want it all 80s , all same fabric.
I thought these gold cushions broke it up a bit.

Coordinating colours is not my strongest point but I think I had a bit of divine guidance there.
Anyway, here’s the pics after four hours of curtain hanging

The colour of the curtains show up better in the dark...so here’s this one

That is absolutely gorgeous, Dowser! A lot of work but it looks clean, fresh and up to date.

It looks lovely, enjoy your van.

SuperDiaperBaby · 26/01/2018 22:07

You have done an amazing job - have you had a chance to use it with the family yet?

Usernom1234567890 · 26/01/2018 22:10

That looks really good-you're very talented!

Dowser · 26/01/2018 23:28

Thank you all so much. It really has turned out better than I expected.
In previous years, my mum used to help with projects like this...not on such a big scale though...but of course she’s no longer with me.
I hope she’s been watching and pleased with the results and even giving a bit of guidance.

When things were getting a bit tough, especially with the curved ones, I’d just say, now come on, I need a bit of help here please.

My dh was all for leaving the bathroom...he’s anything for a quiet life...but there’s no stopping me now.
Onwards and upwards and the lovely man who laid the floor is going to do the bathroom floor and the cladding.

It’s been a great project to do over the winter...I honestly have barely noticed the weather as I’ve just had my head full of what I was doing next, or getting on with it when the weather was bad or driving down with the new stuff.

The site doesn’t reopen till next week...but I don’t think we will be connnecting the water till we’re pretty sure the frosts have gone.
So probably won’t go to stay till end of March.
If you’ve got a caravan super diaper, give it a go. There’s loads of videos on you tube.

I’d love to do another one...I think dh would divorce me 😂
