Small camera for security?

We've had 4 uneventful years where we're currently living, until this week - we came home Sunday to find fresh gouges in the front door, then today the dog went ballistic as DH was (thankfully) in the bathroom. As DH came running downstairs he was just in time to see someone running out of the front garden with a large screwdriver in his hand Angry We have a big bay window that you can see the door from one side of so I'm thinking of getting a small camera (not a anal camera, thanks autocorrect!) to put on the windowsill - visible enough to be a deterrent and preferably good enough to get a clear picture of this scrote (and any others). Any recommendations?

Sorry to hear that. You can probably use any as long as it's obviously a camera. Also look at your front hedges to make sure no one can hide from passers by, a kind of passive surveillance. Hopefully it's just one guy who's taken fright now.

Can highly recommend a ring doorbell, it has a motion sensor and records to the cloud anything that triggers within a 180 degree radius of where it's located, works on wifi and you can speak to people at the door through it too ( or shout at them if necessary) from anywhere via your mobile.

Thanks, we'll be cutting the front hedge right back and warning the neighbours! Are the ring doorbells non-intrusive to fit? We rent so we'd be looking for something that doesn't require drilling of huge holes...

We have a camera which was fitted by our burglar alarm company. We can check it from our phones. The burglar alarm and panic button give us peace of mind but they are not cheap solutions.

We have a Ring doorbell, if you can drill a hole then you can fit one.

All the tools you need including the drill bit come with the doorbell, so no rooting around your tool box trying to find the right sized drill bit, or a screwdriver as they include that too!

It has a motion sensor and records, plus when someone rings your doorbell you can answer it anywhere you are as it rings your phone.

We love it.

Do you have an alarm? If not, well worth having one fitted for the deterrent effect. There are various ways you could have it set up to allow the dog to move around without setting it off and different sensors suitable for pets.
