We are thinking of putting in an offer on a house with a view to doing a big extension in five years time - it has a great garden and is in a wonderful neighbourhood with good schools so we are really initially buying it for its location and potential.
It's 1930s built with a sound roof according to the survey. However, in order to live in it we will need to replace doors (internal and external), floors (thinking engineered wood downstairs, laminate upstairs), skirtings, architraves and windows. We have requested a quote from 3 builders but they won't be able to quote until after our next meeting with the bank and I am desperate to figure out a ball park figure before then so that we have an idea of what we're getting ourselves in for. Would anyone have any info about the likely cost and the likely timescale? The house is 2,000 sq feet. We are in south east (not London).
We will also need a new kitchen and bathrooms and insulation but I have priced these up separately.
