Polished chrome or brushed nickel handles in shaker kitchen.

Dh doesn't care for the finer detail on kitchen design.

I'm going for a linwood in alabaster from Diy kitchens.

I can't decide whether to go for a polished or brushed finished in the handles.

What would look better? I'm having a oak worktop and matt white tiles.

I'm looking at the hafele henrietta in either polished chrome or brushed nickel.

Which is easier to look after and leave fewer finger marks?

Would polished chrome look odd with the 'mattness' of the rest of the kitchen?

Brushed nickel every time

guilty100 · 18/09/2017 11:38

Yep, polished surfaces show fingerprints so badly! Brushed always looks classier to me, and the colour of that one is stunning

Super - thank you - that's what I was erring towards.

Brushed. Polished will be a nightmare to keep clean

wowfudge · 18/09/2017 12:03

We have the Harewood painted kitchen from DIY in alabaster with Hafele Henrietta pulls and knobs in polished chrome. They don't mark unless you have dirty hands, which would be the same with any kind of handle. Not a nightmare at all.

Ooh I liked the look of the Harewood but slightly out of our budget - bet it looks fab.

@wowfudge Can I ask you what you did for a splashback?

We've gone for polished chrome knobs (but have dark grey kitchen units). They reflect the light and look beautiful in my opinion :) I was nervous that polished chrome sockets would show finger prints too easily, so we have installed high gloss white instead..

Think about what else you may want to get to match and what finish that comes in.

BubblesBuddy · 18/09/2017 13:58

I have a grey shaker kitchen with off white island units. I have brushed chrome because the taps were brushed chrome. Ditto the control panels for the coffee machine and ovens. They just matched everything.

I have wooden work tops in my flat and they have no splash backs! I think tiles would have been better but the kitchen was insitu whan I bought it. I have granite at home with granite up-stands. Hob is on an island so no splash back. I dislike the wooden work top. It needs sanding and resealing - any recommendations for West London contractors?

wowfudge · 18/09/2017 14:02

Yep - our reasons for having chrome were because we like them and it was so much easier - and cheaper overall - to match everything. @HeyMacWey we only have a splashback around the range cooker - it's flat cream metro tiles. We have oak worktops. We're really pleased with the way it's turned out.

Too many decisions to make Confused :o

Tap is polished, some appliances are brushed.
