Advice from an estate agent when we have no intention of selling?

Some etiquette advice - we are planning some building works to our house. If they go ahead then we will have no intention of moving for at least ten years but I do want to ensure that we don't overdevelop the plot, as it's potentially compromised in a couple of areas (e.g. proximity to a railway line, fairly small garden).

The estate agents who handled our purchase were absolutely lovely and I'm wondering if we could get them in to give us some advice on what works would potentially add value without overdeveloping. We would be totally honest about the fact that we have no intention of selling any time soon but I don't know how EAs would view this kind of a request. Is it a nuisance because there's no commission in it in them, or is it part of maintaining good relationships locally? It's a small, family-run local agency rather than a Foxton's-type corporate machine, if that makes a difference.

I've done this before with the agents who sold me the house, they were absolutely fine about it. I was upfront that it was just for valuation purposes.
