Packing Service - Worth it? Ballpark Figure Cost-wise?

Hello Lovely Ladies.
We have sold and are hoping for a moving date in 2 months. We are considering a packing service. Have you used one before and is it worth it? What were your costs like?
We are a 5 bed minimalist house, moving about a half mile out.
Thanks for your comments.

That seems like a very civilised way to do it MetalMum15 Smile

I just remember that last time we moved it took all morning just to load the lorry and if they had to pack too I think I'd find that too stressful, even if they are really competent and quick with the packing!

We've had several contacts from companies now so I think I'll book a few "no obligation quotes" and see what they say.

YogaDrone, I have now booked in a couple of companies to come in for a survey to quote a full service, including unpacking. I will share my quotes here once I have them. I am moving less than half a mile so hopefully I get the minimum for distance.

I know the unpacking is tricky as some things are likely to be moved again as we settle into our new home but the idea of the bulk of the packing being undone and packaging taken away fills me with delight (I know! I am easy to please 😊).

I still have time as we do not move for a couple more months yet, but I love planning, so hey!

DarthMaiden, how much extra did it cost for the storage?

Also does anyone know of packaging is included in the cost?

We sound similar fialor - we haven't even had our survey done yet and I'm worrying about the minutiae of removals! Thanks for offering to share your quotes, I'm certainly very interested in hearing them.

I'm not sure about full unpacking because the house we're moving to is very different in terms of layout to our current house that I'm not sure where I'm going to want things in the longer term and I wonder if being able to keep things in boxes for a while might make that easier.

Also, the thought of being completely unpacked on completion day rather blows my tiny mind!

I've had some flyers through which say "Free packing materials and insurance" when you ask for quote. I'm not sure how that works if you don't chose that company though! I'd rather assume packing materials would be included if you are having the removals company both pack and unpack for you - they would surely find it easier that way surely?

Sorry I can't remember how much the storage was.

The fact I can't remember suggests it can't have been that expensive!

It was brilliant - I hired a local company and they literally didn't leave until the house was entirely transferred from one house to another and everything was in place. They worked out where furniture would go, made it all look lovely, and i was totally unpacked by supper time on the day of the move. I'd taken an extra day off work for the next day, and spent that at a loose end!

YogaDrone, I have quotes!
It took a while but I thought I would post a little analysis of the quotes received, hoping it will help others who might be looking too.**

The quote is based on a a five bed clutter free house, with standard garden, garage, and garden shed contents.

Let me know your thoughts.**

I forgot to include in the previous post that none of those who quoted will unpack to cabinets. They will only unpack to flat surface.
