Educate me about woodburners please ?

We are replacing an oil stove we inherited when we bought the house with a woodburner.
Our lovely heating man has quoted for the installation and told us to look for a burner with a max 5kw output as it will be tricky to put in the air vents to make a larger output HETAS compliant ... ( it's a secondary heat source in the room so he assures me this is enough )
He suggested we look at Charnwood and Stovax - but my relatives all keep raving on about Clearview and Villager ...
It's a very old traditional farmhouse so we want a traditional look and not too small as will look tiny in the fireplace. ( most of the 5kw are almost half as wide as the oil stove )
To be honest apart from appearance and air-wash which they mostly all seem to have we really aren't sure how we should be choosing !
What else should we be thinking about - it's obviously a long term decision so although I am getting a bit swamped by all the options I don't want to get it wrong ...
Has anyone got one that fits our brief they could recommend ?
TIA

We have. 5kw Charnwood wood burner, it excellent.
We also have a Carnwood multi fuel, but that in a bigger room. Both rooms also have CH, which we turn off when the stoves are lit.
Would recommend them.

Ooh thanks for reply - my DH went to a showroom today and they were very positive about Charnwood - they said they are uk made and with a 10 year guarantee which all sounds good !

Is yours like this ?

We have a clearview and have been very happy with it for a few years. Really easy to control and looks very smart. Ours is also a 5kw and heats a large lounge and sometimes the whole downstairs if we open all the doors.

Next chapter that's the exact one we've been considering. It's a good price, would you mind sharing where you've seen it?

My husband fits log burners for a living. 5kw will be fine. Clearview stoves are requested specifically by most of his customers as they've done a great job of marketing. Stoves are just as good, as are many of the premium brands. It's essentially a metal box. The extra you're paying for is for fancy handles, nicer coating, better quality glass and, mostly, design. Which is perfectly fine if those things matter to you (they do to me. I have two Stovaxes in my house)

We have a stovax 5 and an intrepid something-or-other. The intrepid is much more of a traditional style, the stovax is more modern. I find the stovax very easy to light and control, the intrepid is slower (but bigger) and hotter. Both are great fires. I've had stove fans recommended to me too, we're going to give one of those a go this winter.

Next ours is exactly that one. We ordered it on line, for the best price. It was delivered to us and our HETAS engineer fitted it.
