How do you avoid getting sand everywhere? Do you take everything out of the cupboards?

many sanders have a spigot where the hose of a vaccum cleaner can be attached. They aren't perfect but help a lot. Builders dust is not good for domestic vacs, I'd recommend a builders canister vac that will cost about £60. Some have a socket for power tools, and turn themselves on when they sense that the tool starts running (power take-off socket). Get spare bags and a spare cartridge filter. The bags are the size of pillowcases.

You can get rolls of plastic dustsheet, big enough to reach from wall to wall. You will still have to wash everything you own.

Electronic equipment, especially computers and TVs, can be destroyed by builders dust, as can watches.

Hand sand for minimal dust and an upper body work out!

Thank you. It was the washing everything we own but I was trying to avoid! We have a canister/DIY Hoover that turns on and off with the power tool. Not used it yet but seems to reduce the dust.
Think I'll just have to move everything into another room and then wash the cupboards then move everything back. To do I it again when I do the next bit of worktop. Ballache but don't want to wash everything and can't do all worktop in one go.
Was hoping that someone had a snazzy way of avoiding the dreaded dust getting in the cupboards.
