Cost to professionally paint new kitchen?

Morning all, i'm currently investigating and searching for my new kitchen for a forthcoming extension and have narrowed it down to 2. DIY Kitchens gets alot of positive comments on here and i'm really keen, however they don't seem to do larder units that i like so i'm having doubts, although an option could be to get my carpenter to make me some matching larder units to compliment it.

The other option was Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch, but as you know they don't offer a painting service. To square things off i got a quote from a kitchen painting specialist to paint our designed kitchen and my quote is £7k (include labour/materials). This seems alot of money to me, and although i had no doubt the finish would be incredible, i can 't quite get my head around the cost. Does this sound like the ballpark? Our kitchen consists of 6m run of units (floor and wall), 3.5m x 2m island and separate 2m larder unit.

I'm in Surrey btw.

Has anyone else had they kitchen painted by a professional and how much did you pay (if you don't mind sharing) and how was the outcome?

Also if anyone can recommend an excellent kitchen painter in the Surrey/London area i'd be grateful. This is an important purchase and i don't want to muck it up.

You would be best getting the kitchen painted before it is delivered. £7k does sound like day-like-robbery as the only thing that gets painted are the doors.

Ramona75 - not quite true if the kitchen is fully framed, because then the frames also need to be painted, which is very time consuming

We are also in Surrey, and have also just used Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch. We have a similar size kitchen to you, and we had two quotes for painting that were £1500 (from our builder) and £2400 (from a professional painter). That included painting fronts and backs of doors with 2 coats of undercoat and topcoat, and varnishing the insides (they are beautiful oak veneer so do need some protection). We thought that was expensive (and had run out of money from the build!) so have done it ourselves! It's been a tough slog, but we are really happy with how easy it's been, and we would be confident doing touch ups or changing the colour of the island when Hicks Blue goes out of fashion Wink

What sort of larder unit do you want? Could your carpenter customise or build one and trim it with doors/handles to match the rest of your kitchen? Might work out cheaper than painting an entire kitchen.
