vinyl is fine in a bathroom,though unless the floor is perfectly flat and smooth it needs 4mm ply underlay, or the defects will cause wear points
I'm not convinced it is so good in a kitchen. Chairs leave foot dents, a dropped knife will puncture it, dragging an appliance over it will leave a scar. Maybe OK for a couple of years before it gets too marked.
You can get a special hard version as used in commercial kitchens, it is much more durable and expensive, and usually fitted so it turns up the walls like skirting.
