Hi there

Looking for a mid range worktop. I am obviously looking for the normal, heat resistant, stain resistant, scratch resistant etc.

Ones that have caught my eye are Dekton, Neolith, and Lapitec. Has anyone had any of these worktops? Where they stupid expensive? Thanks.

We have Neolith. Amazing. Amazing. Same price as higher end of Silestone.

Watching with interest. I thought silestone was super expwnaive? Might be confused.

We have Corian I love it (not sure of spelling) I couldn't afford silestone

We went with silestone. Its been in since March and seems to take everything thrown at it so far. Doesn't stain, can plonk hot pans etc straight onto it. Only downside is your warm plates go cold very fast if you put them on there for plating up.

Hi there, sorry if I am coming across ignorant but I thought Silestone was the same as Neolith/ Dekton etc? Lindtnotlint would you be able to give an idea of cost attached, as I belive if i got that worktop I would have to buy it separate and then get it fitted in, and the added costs with that.

The company that make silestone also make Dekton. They are not quite the same thing.

We're getting silestone, which is pretty expensive. There are different price bands for it. Of course we only liked the stuff in the more expensive bands for our kitchen. The cheesiest band stuff is about half the price of what we're getting.

thenightsky · 01/09/2017 10:39

For our Silestone, it came as part of the kitchen costs from the company, not separate. The man who fitted it came with a laser measure thing which took about an hour to map the room for a perfect fit all around.

Thanks. I will have a look as no one will give some idea of a cost of these surfaces and they look very impressive! I am thinking of doing one of those kitchen restorations where I just need to buy new doors and a worktop, so whilst we are not flush with cash we can make a compromise here. If anyone can give me the costings for the worktops that would be amazing.

Neolith/Dekton are not the same as Silestone. They are completely heatproof and scratchproof. We switched our quote from medium-price Silestone to Neolith and it came out the same. Only issue is you need an experienced and careful fitter as they are brittle so can be chipped on install. We also went with a (beautiful) over mount sink to avoid the risk of chipping at sink edge. If you are looking for a cheap option this isn't it. But if you are loitering in the upper ends of Silestone then I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to explore Neolith or Dekton. (Personally I think the Neolith range is more attractive than Dekton and I have seen both ranges in the flesh).
