I'm on month 5 for no apparent reason other than my builder comes one day a week! I've really had enough!
If you want to feel a little bit better join us on the Extension's 17 thread! Smile

Our extension started June '14. We moved out July '14 expecting to be back in end of November '14.

We moved back into our home August '15, and then began getting carpets and other bits finished.

Daughters first Christmas was spent away from home in rented, as was her first birthday and my sons 3rd birthday and Christmas. He couldn't play with any of his toys that needed space in the rented. Daughter luckily too young to remember it, but it was heartbreaking not being able to have a propper family Christmas for my son in his home. He kept asking if santa would be able to find him as we were not at home etc... Worried that santa wouldnt leave hi any presents. Could have murdered my builder for that alone.

I'd say moving home is actually less stressful than modifying one. Grin

That must have been a lot of work !

It certainly was. Then we started a year long garden project spring '16. Finished that August '17.

While we were still doing bathrooms and decorating in the extension we were getting dust in the house for months on end. To be fair with the amount of work we had done, it was touch and go whether we simply demolished the whole house and started from scratch.

Dont worry sparklymarion, when its done you will have the home and garden you want for the family to enjoy, and you will have gleaned a lot of knowledge along the way.

Top tip would be to take photos of any exposed ceilings or floor whenever you can. That way you will always have a record of where pipes and cables run, and where studwork behind the walls my prevent you from threading a cable where you want a few years from now.

Good luck!

We're at exactly the same stage.

The kids are really enjoying it so far. They don't seem to mind the dust, noise and chaos - for them it's been like going on a camping adventure. I'm the only one that's tearing my hair out, it seems.

I'm also going round in circles over all the decisions to be made. Worktops and taps are currently filling my every waking thought. Sad

It would be amazing if we could be put in some sort of suspended animation till it's all over!

We are about 7/8 weeks in and to be honest it's been fine because they haven't come in yet. Well they've cordoned off the back wall as it's going to come down this week.

As it's the summer holidays we've been getting out which makes life easier.

Same as @NamedyChangedy, so many decisions to make! I think we are there on the kitchen layout, next step is the actual bloody details of where and what. I'm constantly stressing about it.

We finally start tomorrow after many many months of planning! I am so excited but worry when I read these threads that plain sailing just doesn't seem to happen.
TeamRick - once a week, OMG!! Should you have been finished by now?
Sending everyone positive vibes x

TeamRick · 03/09/2017 16:56

Peanuts- yep! It's sheer hell! So fed up! We started on 18th April!
Betw 3 August & now they've knocked through - well nearly! That is all!
