Is Megaflo the best?

Just looking at other brands and to the (very) untrained eye they look the same spec - wise but the prices wildly vary. Im looking at the 250ltr size - PigletJohn any insights into better brands to look at?

I have the option of good discount on PlumbCenter prices - is their own brand any good? Im guessing its a rebadged something?

I'm not qualified to say, but some people say the design is outdated with an internal bubble that is difficult to refill. Heating engineers need a special qualification certificate (the G3 ticket) to install or maintain unvented cylinders. You should be able to find one who can do your boiler and your cylinder.

there is a British Standard so I would expect any UK or German build, in Stainless Steel, by a well-established maker, to be pretty good.

Get a big one. 250 litres is quite common. They deliver hot water very fast. They are well insulated so it will stay hot for more than a day if you don't use it. 250 litres weighs 250kg so not in the loft, please.

Measure your incoming water flow. If it is less than about 20 litres per minute, consider replacing your old waterpipe (and especially stopcocks and valves) with a larger size all the way out to the pavement, to the cylinder, and to the bath taps. The large valves are relatively expensive, so beware of plumbers fitting small ones, which will restrict the flow.
