How much did your removal firm cost?

Just that really... we have arranged slightly more mortgage than required to cover agent fees and removal company costs, then anything left will be for new carpets & paint. I think removal will be in the region of £2k (only moving a mile but 5 bed house so lots of furniture). My husband (rather naively I think) reckons only £1k. We're yet to receive quotes back - pretty straightforward move & we're doing our own packing beforehand. We're in the southwest.

Thanks @soundsystem - they're local to me so could be perfect!

This was posted a year ago, so I hope I’m not too late to join this discussion. When we moved, we booked movers using this website that compares house removal costs. It’s been more than a year ago so I can’t really remember the exact amount they charged us. Though I’m sure that it was not that expensive because we also obtained temporary storage solutions from. But even so, we still managed to buy two new mattresses using the leftover money from our moving budget. Hope I answered your question correctly!

South East, pack and move a 3 bed house on a Friday, £1000. Moved to the next village, nothing quirky about the properties, no access issues etc. Money well spent.

Just under £500 to move 7 miles from a stuffed to the gills 2 bed terrace to a 3 bed semi, including insurance etc. Used a large local firm in the NE. Had a lower quote but it was a small firm and they didn't have a big enough van available at short notice (too much dicking around with exchange and completion dates by a power tripping vendor who didn't even live in the fucking house meaning that we couldn't book long enough ahead)
