What F&B colour if F&B dark tones undercoat nearest to?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if any of you brilliant folk will know what F&B colour their dark tones undercoat is similar to/the same as please?

We are repainting our garage door, did two coats of the dark tones undercoat - all lovely. Then our chosen top coat (chosen before seeing undercoat!) of mole's breath, which after seeing the undercoat colour, looks absolutely insipid and awful. Hence trying to find the colour closest to their undercoat!

If anyone is familiar with their exterior eggshell paint as well, is it durable please? The gloss is a bit much in the evening sun here, I think it will dazzle the neighbours when they pull down the road... but I'm nervous about using the eggshell if it's going to deteriorate quickly or mark easily as I definitely don't want to be painting this bloomin' garage door again anytime soon!

Thanks!

Our front door and wooden post are F&B Pigeon in the eggshell. Seems to be wearing ok, it's been on almost 2 years and hasn't flaked, chipped or faded and we're south facing.

I'd say Downpipe or Plummett are most similar to the undercoat.

My front door is also painted in eggshell - Manor House grey - and it's still looking nice, though I'm not sure if I painted it last year or the year before. I'm east facing. My door was a bit grubby because the children on my road play outside and they are always knocking, touching it, bumping bikes/scooters into it... but I washed it the other day with a bit of sugar soap and it looks as good as new. No flaking or anything.

Re the undercoat, I did survey with my family because I did the undercoat inside when I painted outside but run out of paint so we had that colour on the inside of our door for a while but we couldn't agree on a colour. DH thinks it's got a blue tinge to it but he's colourblind so we can't trust him. All I know is that it's quite a bit darker than Manor House grey, so maybe downpipe or black blue?

Have used it before...definitely like downpipe

Could you give them a ring tomorrow and ask? You can't be the first person to put the undercoat on and love it!

The undercoat is downpipe. I did exactly the same as you on a fireplace and spoke to F&B.

They said they get this all the time!

Hi everyone, thanks very much you're so helpful. I was planning on ringing F&B tomorrow but am impatient! We want to re-paint the garage door as soon as possible given that it almost reduced me to tears (and not in a good way), when I looked at it yesterday just after I'd finished painting it. Top marks to appleandblacberrycrumble! Two of the neighbours commented on how nice the undercoat colour was, and seeing it now with an awful topcoat I imagine they are wondering why we bothered - I too am wondering why we bothered! Thanks very much, looks like I'll be getting tin of downpipe eggshell and hoping that it's second time lucky!
