New kitchen advice please - Wren, Ikea, magnet, something else?

Looking to redo our medium sized kitchen. Like the wren stuff and they've quoted around £10k (though that includes £3k for the quartz worktop Shock) but have just been put off by some of the terrible reviews on here!

To be honest we were looking at more like a budget of £7k but we want good quality too. Is this unrealistic?

Any advice on who to go with, best designers/fitters? Is it best to source your own fitters or use the kitchen company's? Source worktop separately perhaps? What about appliances?

Any advice would be gratefully received!

TIA Smile

@Oliversmumsarmy I just saw this and thought of your narrow drawer. This would hold your cutlery and leave a gap of around three inches for other bits alongside.

FrogFairy That's genius

you wont get much for that size drawer.
the drawer size is approx 270mm deep.
we 4 of these in a 1900 tall wall unit. they are ok to get at stuff but mainly a bits n bobs unit (sweets + goddies)
you can just buy some materail and bespoke something up for that depth but not much on the market pre made

I wonder why someone doesn't do it. If drawer units that width are being made why not get a cutlery holder to fit. It is the only drawer unit I could fit in to the kitchen

Ordering the one from Emporium.

When ever I have googled to buy a cutlery tray nothing came up

Thanks FrogFairy you're a star

Please post problems or solutions to get us started or I will be mortified by the lack of interest

I'm currently procrastinating about emailing our architect for the kitchen extension we're planning, and panicking about what point in the process I need to plan/order my kitchen and I found this. My people. You have calmed me with storage porn. Now I can procrastinate for hours. New thread here I come.

Off the back of this very thread, we visited the DIY Kitchens showroom in Pontefract at the weekend. Very impressed with the range and quality for the price, and we've got our eye on the Luca range in a matt finish. I've now got to get my head around planning it!

Order your kitchen online with someone like DIY Kitchens and get your appliances from Appliances Online, you will not go far wrong there.

With regards to kicthen fitters, get your own, B&Q, just the other day, tried to charge my friend £5,000 for fitting, they were laying a new floor as well but it was still mega expensive.

B&Q, just the other day, tried to charge my friend £5,000 for fitting

Was that literally just to fit the units or did that include plumbing and electrics, tiling, plastering, decorating etc as well?! That is way more than we paid and we had absolutely everything done by the fitters, including a complete re-plaster of the whole open plan kitchen/dining room and loads of plumbing, electrical work, tiling and decorating the whole space.

We bought our kitchen from a regional company and they arranged the fitter for us. We paid the company for the kitchen and the kitchen fitting, and we paid the fitter direct for the stuff he subcontracted.

The actual kitchen is a Hacker one, although I didn't realise that until I saw the packaging when the fitters were unboxing it all.
