How can I 'demonstrate' to inspector that glass is toughened?

We have just completed a (saga) of an extension. We used a local company of builders, although they are polish and hence sourced our glass from Poland. We don't have the details of the glass company, and our builder has gone off on another job and is not replying to my texts / emails / calls.

The building inspector came round this week re our completion certificate (we are in Scotland). Apparently we need to demonstrate that the glass below 800mm is toughened. Now, we ordered it to be toughened (we ordered 'unbreakable', anti burglary glass), and we know it is as someone has tried to break in this week (there are marks all over the glass where someone has clearly been hitting it to try and break it).

How can I provide this to the building inspector, and what will happen if I can't? I have continued to contact our builder but he hasn't responded as yet.

If I ever do an extension again I have learned my lessons from this one!!

Try to smash it? Smile. Float glass will shatter into dangerous shards if hit in the corners. Toughened glass needs much higher force and laminated simply won't break at all (which we have in our low windows)

You need a certificate - how long do you have to get this signed off? Ages I would think.

When we last sold a property, I had to give details of the Kitemark (safety standard) maker's marks printed on to the glass - it's usually in a corner somewhere - is there nothing printed on the corners of the panes?

I would have thought you would need to show the building control a fensa certificate for the windows as proof , perhaps you can go back to building control and ask them what you need to give as evidence
I know it often doesn't seem so but building control are on your side
