Navy/ dark blue kitchen cabinets, where else to find?

Hi all, has any one seen a company which sells dark blue kitchen cabinets? There is one on Howdens, and one on Magnet but I am struggling to find any more in "real" shops!

TIA if anyone can send me in the right direction..

John Lewis does them I think.

wowfudge · 24/08/2017 19:15

DIY Kitchens can paint kitchen units any colour you like.

PigletJohn · 24/08/2017 20:44

any colour you want. And any size.

they will get Egger to send you samples for £1 each. If you look on the Egger website I think they have images (and will send you samples free)

PigletJohn · 24/08/2017 20:51

Click on this

then "suitable decors for laminate"

and blue start on page 7

The manufacturer I linked also uses another maker, I forget their name.

Egger make the boards, the other company makes them into cabinets.

We got ours from diy kitchens - as mentioned above, they'll Farrow and Ball it any colour you like. The blues/navies are nice.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 25/08/2017 08:18

I bought mine from Wren. The colour is fab but Wren can only be described as a bunch of cowboys. Rubbish quality and even worse customer service. Don't be fooled by their fancy showroom experience.

Burbidge kitchens. Great quality

JustMumNowNotMe · 25/08/2017 08:28

IKEA do lovely a gorgeous navy blue kitchen

JustMumNowNotMe · 25/08/2017 08:28

Do a gorgeous....not sure where the random lovely came from! 😂

Iamafool22 · 25/08/2017 10:33

Thanks everyone for suggestions.

Lady I had a look at wren kitchens last night before I saw your message and planned to visit a show room this weekend. Can you tell me a bit more of your experience with them? After lots of mumsnet digging it seems that people have had problems with most of the big kitchen retailers and I'm not quite sure where to turn!!

I will have a look at Burbidge and ikea, thanks Soosan and justmum Flowers

I've just had someone to measure up for my new navy kitchen! It's by Chippendale kitchens, from a local fitters/builders merchant. I did see one in Wickes too.

NotMeNoNo · 25/08/2017 10:41

Often you have to do a bit of detective work if you want something unusual. Visit wren or ikea to see the navy kitchens styled and in full scale. Visit a few independent suppliers to get an idea of cabinet quality and what you are looking for, soft close, interior colours etc. Then you can order online samples and order with more confidence by comparing specifications with what you've seen IRL.

NotMeNoNo · 25/08/2017 10:42

But DIY kitchens would be my starting point for any unusual colour.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 25/08/2017 10:52

The Wren showroom is very shiny with good service and lots of nice kitchens. Our designer was knowledgeable and spent hours with us getting a design we were happy with. We paid the deposit, but it was all downhill from there!

Delivery went as planned, but on day one the fitters didn't turn up. The next day they sent only an electrician who done a few hours work. This pattern of not turning up and delays continued for weeks - customer services were very unhelpful and the fitters were unreliable, leaving us with no cooking facilities or any running kitchen water for 5 weeks. It has taken 12 weeks to get it completed and apparently we are one of the quicker ones.

There is a four year running thread here related to Wren. Please also see Wren Kitchen Disasters on Facebook and look at Twitter. They very carefully manage their social media presence and delete any negative comments. They also flood Trustpilot with fake reviews to drown out the negative ones.

If all of this doesn't dissuade you, then I wish you luck on your long and hellish journey! Blush

Try your local high street kitchen shop. A few of mine have good options and although I was intimidated at first going in, the prices have been quite reasonable.

Lady - oh no that's aweful!!! Sorry to hear you had a crap time with them, 12 weeks is shocking. I will have a peruse of those threads and will proceed with caution..

notme - am I right in thinking that with DIY kitchens you can get a quote/ product list from say, Magnet, and then they will match the list to what they stock? I am in the SW so can't go to their showroom in Yorkshire..

Peppy- there is a lovely dark blue on the Chippendale website and a localish kitchen supplier does the range so I will definitely add them to the list!

did you mean blue cabinets, or did you mean blue doors?

Iamafool22 · 25/08/2017 11:20

Sorry piglet john! I meant blue doors, apologies for my poor wording. Like the pic that Twounder posted (and thank you another good find! I was trying to navigate their website but it's a bit balls and I didn't spot that one)

I went to a small local independent kitchen designer. We could have the doors in any farrow and ball paint colour. They project managed the whole thing including a small building project. It was also much cheaper than howdens etc.

user100987 · 25/08/2017 11:29

We got our dark blue cabinets from a company called deVol based in the midlands. Highly recommended.

Iamafool22 · 25/08/2017 11:30

That's interesting Nan0second, I have heard that howdens pricing is a bit "smoke and mirrors" and I can't be arsed to go back and forth. I just want to know how much everything will cost individually and how much to fit it and it not be a huge secret! Will also investigate local places then.

Iamafool22 · 25/08/2017 11:32

User - deVol look beautiful but I was assuming very pricey? We are planning on doing an extension in 10 years and just need a kitchen to see us through till then. I think deVol is on my "dream kitchen" list though
